Fire Alarm System Technician to perform programming, commissioning of new systems, troubleshooting, repair & inspection of existing systems, primarily within our local service market. We offer an excellent benefit package and a salary commensurate with experience and/or training.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to, conducting service calls, systems testing and inspections to the prescribed standards; performing on-site emergency troubleshooting and repairs of our customers' fire and security alarm systems; identifying code issues and non-conformance issues; preparing accurate and timely service tickets and reports; installations which include head end components, final connections, programming and testing.
Education/Experience:
Must have a High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a minimum of 2 years previous industry related experience.
NICET Certification a plus.
Knowledgeable of basic electronics and/or electrical practices and multi-meter use.
Must have a mechanical aptitude in working with tools.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, organization skills, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Email.
Must be drug free (drug testing required).
Must have clean background (State Police Background check will be conducted).
Must have valid driver’s license with minimal traffic violations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, program and test fire and/or security alarm panels.
Install, program and test access control and surveillance systems.
Read, research and identify project needs prior to job start.
Read and interpret vendor manuals, drawings, and work orders to perform required service and/or installations.
Work with manufacturer proprietary software on company provided laptop computer to install or modify systems when necessary.
Troubleshoot and repair faulty installations.
Responsible for maintaining all documentation and reports associated with daily work.
Evaluate customer sites for additional equipment and services.
Work in compliance with company’s safety manual with safety of self and others in mind.
Provide and maintain personal small hand tools, battery drill and commercial grade multi-meter.
Use a variety of company provided hand and power tools when required for installation work.
Provide and wear Safety Shoes when required by customer.
Maintain assigned company work vehicle and appropriate part inventory levels for jobs.
Lift 50+ pounds
Work on ladders and lifts when required.
Travel periodically, at companies’ expense, for product training or certification as required by management.
Pursue and maintain NICET certification for Fire Alarm Systems.
