Responsibilities:
The Forensic Nurse Examiner provides forensic physical assessment and evidence collection to patients who are victimized by sexual assault, aged 13 and older, and interpersonal violence for all ages. This includes injury and photo documentation, crisis intervention and prophylactic medications with referrals as appropriate. The F.N.E. is expected to provide fact testimony for judicial proceedings. The F.N.E. must meet annual criteria to maintain certification (200 hours, 3 exams, 8 hours continuing education), as well as annual OSHA, PPD and Mercy mandatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must have at minimum a BSN degree in nursing
- Must have 18 months experience in nursing in any field (preferably emergency/trauma, women's health experience)
- Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing in the State of Maryland
- FNE (Forensic Nurse Examiner) Certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing is strongly preferred.
- Must have current Healthcare Provider Level CPR certification.
