Food Service Worker

Mermaid Pies & Sandwiches is looking for a customer service oriented, energetic, and creative team member! As a Food Service Worker, you will be responsible for various tasks including, answering the phone, food prep, baking, preparing sides and sandwiches and maintaining a clean working environment. Other tasks may be assigned as needed. This is a part time position. The business hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday 11 AM to 4 PM.

Customer Service:

• Greet customers when they enter the store.
• Answer any questions customers may have about the store or food items.
• Accurately and efficiently take orders.
• Answer the phone
• Recommend items based on customer needs and tastes
• Hand correct food items to customers
• Operate our point Of sale system and accurately give change to customers.

Food Prep

• Must be able to chop vegetables, crack eggs, mix ingredients, and place baked goods in the oven.
• Must be able to follow our recipes to prepare sides and soups.
• Must be able to handle shellfish
• Must be able to prepare sandwiches

Cleaning

• Dishwashing
• Take out the trash
• Sweep
• Mop
• Clean off tables and surfaces
• Fold pie and cookie Boxes
• Store food items properly according to food regulations.

Team Collaboration

• Be able to effectively communicate with other team members.
• Take direction from Lead Team Member.

Qualifications

• Previous Food service experience.
• Basic understanding of kitchen fundamentals
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn
• Proficient point of sale system understanding.
• Must be able to work in the United States
• Be able to work Wednesday through Saturday

Physical Requirements

• Be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and reach
• Ability to carry 50 pounds
• Ability to handle and be around shellfish
