Founding Product Marketing Engineer
Job description
Founding Product Marketing Engineer
New York, NY · In Person · Full-Time
About Attention
Attention is helping companies reach their full revenue potential.
We turn every customer interaction — calls, meetings, emails, CRM activity, and more — into structured intelligence and action. Our agents help revenue teams understand what is happening, decide what should happen next, and increasingly execute that work automatically.
We believe the next generation of software won’t just help people do work. It will understand the work, learn from it, do more of it itself, and own the outcome.
That shift is happening now.
Attention is growing quickly, working with some of the most ambitious revenue organizations in the world, and backed by world-class investors. We move fast, care deeply about the quality of what we build, and expect people here to take real ownership.
This is a place for people who want to build something important — and want their fingerprints all over it.
About the Role
We’re hiring our Founding Product Marketing Engineer.
This is not a traditional product marketing role.
You’ll sit at the intersection of product, engineering, sales, growth, and storytelling and own how Attention gets translated from something technically powerful into something the market immediately understands and wants.
One day, you might be building the story for a major product launch.
The next, you’re prototyping a new interactive demo, analyzing why we win against our incumbents, turning a customer workflow into a viral piece of content, or sitting with an engineer to understand a new agent well enough to explain why it changes how sales teams operate.
You’ll work directly with our VP of Growth, founders, Product, and Engineering.
Your mandate is simple:
Make Attention impossible to misunderstand — and hard to ignore.
You’ll be the first person in this function, with the opportunity to define what product marketing looks like at Attention and eventually build a team around it.
What You’ll Build
- Launch products people remember. Own the positioning, narrative, launch strategy, assets, demos, and distribution for major product releases.
- Turn product into story. Understand Attention at a technical level and translate complex AI capabilities into simple, sharp stories that customers immediately understand.
- Create a content machine. Do the 0-1: create videos, landing pages, agents, and other experiences that make the product tangible. And build a scalable engine from there.
- Create customer proof. Turn real customer outcomes into case studies, videos, before-and-after stories, ROI narratives, and repeatable sales ammunition.
- Own competitive intelligence. Know our space and competitors better than almost anyone. Understand where the market is moving and make sure Attention stays ahead of it.
- Find the message in the data. Analyze wins, losses, usage, customer conversations, and market feedback to understand what resonates — and what doesn’t.
- Create things that spread. Find creative ways to make Attention show up in the market through social, product moments, launches, experiments, events, and unconventional campaigns.
- Shape the product itself. Bring what you learn from customers and the market back to Product and Engineering and help influence what we build next.
Who You Are
You’re unusually good at understanding complicated things and making them feel obvious.
You might come from product marketing. You might be a former consultant who became obsessed with products. You might be a product-minded growth person, a technical marketer, or someone who doesn’t fit neatly into any existing job title.
What matters more:
- You’re an exceptional communicator. You can write a positioning document, a sales slide, a landing page, or a one-line product description — and know that each requires a different kind of thinking.
- You have strong product instincts and genuinely enjoy understanding how technology works.
- You’re comfortable getting technical. You don’t need to be a software engineer, but APIs, AI models, data flows, prompts, prototypes, and developer tools don’t intimidate you.
- You build things yourself. You’d rather prototype the landing page, demo, video, or workflow than spend two weeks coordinating someone else to do it.
- You have extremely high standards for craft.
- You’re analytical. You want to know why customers buy, why deals are lost, what users actually do, and what the data says.
- You’re creative and opinionated. You don’t default to the SaaS marketing playbook just because everyone else does.
- You move very fast without needing a lot of structure.
- You like talking to customers, sellers, engineers, and executives — and can move comfortably between all four.
- You want to build the function, not inherit one.
Background
We’re less interested in checking boxes than finding someone exceptional, but you’ll likely have some combination of:
- 3+ years in product marketing, product, growth, strategy, or another highly analytical and creative role.
- Experience at a high-growth B2B SaaS or AI company, or at a top strategy consulting firm such as McKinsey, Bain, or BCG.
- Experience launching products or bringing new categories to market.
- A demonstrated ability to create exceptional written or visual work.
- Enough technical curiosity to deeply understand an AI product rather than marketing it from the surface.
Extra Credit
- You’ve marketed to Sales, RevOps, or other GTM teams.
- You know the sales technology landscape extremely well.
- You can use tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Figma, Webflow, or similar tools to build things yourself.
- You’ve created product demos, interactive experiences, or technical content.
- You’ve worked at an early-stage startup and built something from zero.
- You have great visual taste.
Why This Role Is Different
Most product marketing roles begin with an existing product, existing positioning, existing processes, and an existing playbook.
This one doesn’t.
You’ll help define the category Attention belongs in, how we explain an entirely new generation of AI-powered revenue software, how we launch products, how Sales tells the story, and how the market comes to understand us.
If you’re exceptional at the intersection of technology, storytelling, product, and commercial instinct, this could become one of the most consequential roles at the company.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity
- Employer-paid health and dental insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Unlimited PTO
- Daily lunch stipend
- A huge amount of ownership
- The opportunity to build a function from zero
This role offers equity compensation.
