Five Towns College offers associate, bachelor, master, and doctoral degree programs in eight major areas of study. The most popular degree programs include music, film/video, theatre arts, business management, and mass communication. Programs of study begin twice each year in the fall and spring following a traditional academic semester calendar. Summer, evening, and part-time learning opportunities are also offered. The College delivers classes in traditional, hybrid and blended formats.

The College holds an Absolute Charter granted by the New York State Board of Regents, and its programs of study are registered with the New York State Education Department. Five Towns College is institutionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The College also holds programmatic accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) and the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Its Business Division is a candidate for accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Approximately 750 students enroll at the College each year, with about 200 residing on-campus in the Five Towns College Living/Learning Center.

Position Overview:

Five Towns College is seeking a full-time, innovative, and skilled Interactive Media Arts Instructor to join the Communication Division. This position supports the BFA and AAS in Interactive Media Arts degrees and focuses on teaching core areas of 3D modeling, animation, motion graphics, traditional drawing, and digital illustration techniques. The ideal candidate will have industry-relevant experience and a passion for preparing students to excel in animation, design, and visual storytelling within a technology-rich creative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

· Teach up to 15 credits per semester in courses that may include 3D modeling and animation, motion graphics, 2D animation, figure and environmental drawing, digital illustration, and tablet-based design techniques.

· Deliver instruction using 3D Studio Max (required), and preferably Maya and Unreal Engine, and Adobe After Effects at an advanced level.

· Guide students through traditional drawing techniques including still life, figure drawing, and environmental perspective.

· Integrate digital tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, emphasizing the transition from traditional to digital workflows.

· Train students in the effective use of digital drawing tablets (Wacom or Huion) with a focus on screenless hand/eye coordination.

· Develop and update course content to align with industry practices and program outcomes.

· Maintain course management systems, including Canvas, attendance records, and grading.

· Actively advise students and participate in academic planning, curriculum development, and departmental meetings.

· Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and contribute to the College’s creative academic environment.

· Maintain professional relationships with industry contacts to support student exposure and career development.

Qualifications:

· A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

· A minimum of three years of college-level teaching experience is desirable.

· Demonstrated expertise in 3D Studio Max is required; additional experience in Maya and Unreal Engine is highly desirable.

· Strong foundation in traditional art, including observational drawing, anatomy, and perspective.

· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe After Effects.

· Experience with digital tablets (Wacom or Huion) and the ability to teach hand/eye coordination techniques.

· Strong communication, mentoring, and collaborative skills.

· Commitment to student-centered teaching and academic excellence.

· Ability to contribute to curriculum development and program innovation.
