Position Summary
The Fund Development Manager is responsible for assisting with the tasks and activities of the Fund Development Department, particularly to yield funding for Ability Housing. The Fund Development Manager supports fundraising initiatives and marketing strategies. The Fund Development Manager administers grant research, acquisition, and post-award management, and reporting processes. The Development Manager maintains grant and donor databases along with Development Department records. The Fund Development Manager reports to the Chief of Strategy and Development.
Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities
The Fund Development Manager plays an integral role in supporting funding and grant solicitation, administration, and stewardship for increased agency capacity, community impact, and mission fulfillment.
- Coordinates the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant requests, including letters of support, proposals, budgets, and presentations
- Researches prospective funders and funding opportunities, assessing viability
- Develops and submits grant proposals to grantmaking and governmental organizations based on fundings notices and opportunities, including through management of contracted grant writing services as applicable
- Ensures agency's mission, programs, and impact are communicated persuasively in all grant submissions
- Works collegially with program, property development, and finance departments to identify funding needs, gather information necessary to submit grant/funding requests, and secure information required for grant reports, under supervision of Chief of Development & Strategy.
- Monitors post-award grant performance to ensure agency’s compliance, making Chief of Stategy & Development aware of any issues or potential issues
- Submits accurate and compelling grant reports according to funder requirements
- Supports organization’s marketing, communications, and public relations including through coordination with contracted firm/services as applicable
- Drafts and posts social media on all applicable platforms, managing social media analytics
- Creates a positive and respectful brand and reputation for the organization through marketing and branding activities
- Supports donor stewardship including by drafting and sending acknowledgement and gratitude correspondence
- Supports long-term grantor and donor relationships
- Maintains Fund Development Department transactions and records, including in project management software and donor database for donor history and relations as well as grant proposal tracking and reporting adherence
- Maintains development dashboard to monitor progress on fiscal goals
- SupportsFund Development Department reports’ preparation, submission, and presentation
- Assists with associated fund development projects and agency events
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The Fund Development Manager will possess the following education, experience, and competencies:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communication, business administration, or related field
- Specialized training and/or certification as a fundraising professional a plus
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with nonprofit fundraising
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant development, acquisition, and management
- Marketing, communications, and graphic design experience a plus
- Experience working in deadline-driven environments
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge, understanding, and application of fundraising strategies and best practices
- Knowledge of funding sources and databases, particularly in the nonprofit and affordable housing sectors
- Knowledge, understanding, and application of grant research, development, acquisition, management, compliance, and reporting best practices
- Knowledge, understanding, and application of marketing and public relations strategies and best practices including with social media
- Exceptional research, analytical, and strategic thinking skills
- Effective organization and time management skills with self-motivation and detail-orientation
- Strong written communication and editing skills, i.e., ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
- Effective verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Ability to translate organization’s needs and goals into funding awards

- Technology and computer proficiency including with Microsoft Office Suite, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe as well as donor and grantor databases
- Proven track record in fund and grant development capacities
- Possesses valid Florida driver’s license and own transportation

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
