Job Description
The Game Operations Specialist will support all home athletic contests by handling set-up and breakdown, managing scoreboards and video boards, and producing content that enhances the fan experience. This position requires attention to detail, quick decision-making, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and tear down athletic equipment and facility spaces before and after events
- Operate scoreboard, game clock, shot clock, and sound systems
- Manage Daktronics video board systems, ensuring accurate and engaging content delivery during games
- Produce and display in-game content such as hype videos, sponsor graphics, stats, player features, and score updates
- Work with Athletics staff to create content in advance of events (e.g., team graphics, lineups, welcome screens)
- Follow and apply game-specific timing and scorekeeping protocols in line with high school rules
- Coordinate with game officials, coaches, Athletic Communications, and other event staff
- React quickly to game situations and make real-time decisions that affect presentation and game flow
- Maintain professionalism in fast-paced and public-facing environments
- Support additional tasks related to game-day experience and event operations as needed
Requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Interest or background in sports and live event production
- Familiarity with video board operation and game-day content creation a plus
- Comfortable with technology and AV systems; willingness to learn Daktronics software
- Ability to work evenings and weekends during the athletic season
- Must be punctual, dependable, and proactive
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with a diverse school community
- Available 4–5 hours per event, 3–4 events per week during busy seasons
