Job Summary
The Garden Coordinator for Around The Bend Gardens is responsible for the end-to-end management of all garden installation and maintenance projects. This includes a blend of project management, client relations, and hands-on horticultural expertise. The coordinator will be the primary point of contact for clients, from initial consultation and project estimation through construction, installation, and follow-up. This role requires the ability to plan and execute projects, manage timelines and resources, and provide ongoing support and recommendations to clients. A key objective is to ensure that each garden project is a success, not only in terms of quality but also in promoting the organization's mission of sustainable food practices and community well-being. The coordinator will also oversee the optional maintenance program, ensuring client satisfaction and the long-term health of the gardens.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Lead Designer to conduct initial consultations to understand client needs, site conditions, and project scope.
- Maintaining electronic communication and assorted computer-based tasks
- Work with the Lead Designer to establish a project timeline, source materials, and schedule deliveries
- Handling job-related client emails and communications to ensure project success
- Maintaining accurate client records and tracking information
- Manage the project sequence from consultation to construction, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
- Coordinate with suppliers and any potential volunteers or staff to ensure all necessary materials and labor are available for each project
- Oversee the optional maintenance program, tailoring services to each client's specific needs as determined during the initial consultation.
- Work with Garden Maintenance Assistant(s) to schedule and conduct regular garden visits (weekly or monthly) to perform garden checks and assess plant health.
- Coordinate and upload Maintenance information following scheduled maintenance visits by the Garden Maintenance Assistant.
- Facilitate the donation of excess produce from client gardens to local food assistance programs, if desired by the client.
Skills
- Proven experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of and experience in gardening, horticulture, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with construction and installation tasks, including basic carpentry and irrigation systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Familiarity with the Central Oregon community is a plus.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for travel to project sites.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $25.00 per hour
