The Associate Designated Institutional Official (ADO) plays a key leadership role in the oversight and administration of the institution's Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs. Working closely with the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), the ADIO ensures compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements, including oversight and monitoring of individual program as well as Institutional accreditation compliance. The ADIO also contributes to strategic planning, policy development, and fostering a culture of excellence in medical education.
Works collaboratively with the DIO to maintain an optimal learning and working environment, ensuring continued full accreditation through oversight of programmatic and institutional compliance with ACGME standards; Serves as the DIO's designated official GME representative for USA Health, making independent and trusted decisions related to the sponsorship of our GME programs on behalf of the DIO when the DIO is unavailable; Interacts with the ACGME as the DIO's representative when the DIO is unavailable; Serves on the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC)and is the Chair-designee for the GMEC when the DIO is unavailable; Oversees the tracking and management of trainees undergoing remediation processes; Conduct special and focused reviews to assess program performance and compliance; Assist in the development and refinement of institutional GME policies and guidelines; Provide leadership to the Housestaff Quality and Safety Council, promoting initiatives that enhance patient care and trainee education; Other duties and projects as assigned by the DIO; Assist with preparation for ACGME site visits and annual program reviews; Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to manage multiple priorities and foster a collaborative environment; Regular and prompt attendance; Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a directly related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and three years of Graduate Medical Education (GME) experience. Comprehensive knowledge of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and accreditation processes is required. Leadership experience within GME is required, preferably as a residency or fellowship program director, Designated Institutional Official, or Associate Designated Institutional Official.
