JOB CLASSIFICIATION
Under limited direction,Senior Managers contribute to the stated goals of UWCCR by serving as technical and/or operational experts in their field. They are expected to be individual contributors as well as leads on organizational initiatives. This level requires professional knowledge gained through substantial applicable work experience in the industry, to supplement functional knowledge, allowing the ability to address complex issues as they arise. Senior Managers possess a comprehensive understanding of how all capabilities of the organization can be accessed to leverage and connect other functional areas to address issues. Senior Managers are the first level of leadership potentially responsible for managing a small group of employees, outside contractors, or functional oversight of various internal/external customers. They operate with significant latitude for unreviewed actions and decisions and are expected to perform and complete tasks reasonably sufficiently. The level has an impact on the organization through joint influence over and shared responsibility with more senior management for planning of resources, budgets, and policies. Senior Managers have significant involvement and interaction with outside stakeholders.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Chief Resource Development & Marketing Officer, the Grants Coordinator will lead the grant identification, development, and submission process. They will partner with various colleagues in our Community Impact, Data and Finance team to manage a growing portfolio of public and private grant funders. They will exercise professional expertise to develop and cultivate local and national relationships to build a pipeline of grant opportunities as well as internal relationships across all departments in the organization. The Grants Coordinator will work with an external grants consultant and the development and execution of a grant funding strategic plan and milestones. They will also manage a variety of external grant writers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Grant and Project Management – 60%
· Lead the identification, development, and submission of grant applications.
· Develop comprehensive project plans for grant-related initiatives, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
· Collaborate with external writers, senior leadership, program staff, and the data team to ensure cohesive project execution and alignment with organizational goals.
· Work closely with the external grants consultant.
· Manage multiple proposals and projects, advance priority projects, and strengthen the proposal pipeline to increase foundation and public grant revenue.
· Be accountable for progress against goals for a portfolio of public and private entities including family and corporate foundations.
· Build close partnerships with Community Impact, Data and Finance Team members to help implement the grants process.
· Write and provide constructive editorial feedback on grant content created by other members of the team.
· Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure grant project objectives are met.
· Monitor grant project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.
· Identify potential risks in grant projects and develop mitigation strategies.
· Track grant project expenses and ensure adherence to budget constraints.
· Conduct regular quality checks and audits on grant projects.
· Allocate resources effectively to ensure grant project success.
· Maintain comprehensive documentation for grant projects.
· Lead the management of all grant files, templates, and other materials.
· Prepare and present regular status reports on grant projects to stakeholders.
· Lead and motivate teams involved in grant projects to achieve project goals.
· Implement process improvements for grant project management methodologies.
Funder Stewardship & Prospect Cultivation – 40%
· Responsible for providing relationship management and stewardship for a portfolio of grant funders with a goal of maintaining and potentially growing these relationships.
· Search prospects and actively review calls for proposals/RFP’s to identify new opportunities to submit proposals.
· Identify and screen appropriate state, federal, and private funding programs through which UWCCR may receive funds.
· Review “Request for Proposals” newsletters and other periodicals and online sources for potential funding opportunities that align with our grant revenue goals.
· Stay informed of significant trends in government, foundation, and corporate funding for human service agencies.
· Identify possible opportunities and determine strategic fit with senior management between these funders and UWCCR’s work.
· Work closely with the Finance team to notify the team of any grant applications, awards, and other financial matters related to grants.
· Establish and maintain ongoing and current knowledge of UWCCR impact areas, goals, and organization-wide strategies.
· Stay apprised of new developments in UWCCR’s operations. Attend internal team meetings as appropriate, coordinate efforts with content experts in Community Impact and as well relationship managers in the Resource Development & Marketing team.
General - 20%
· Work collaboratively with Finance, Data and Community impact program staff.
· Maintain an excellent working relationship with the Finance team and Community Impact program staff to build a strong pre and post award process.
· Lead regular grants team meetings with the Finance, Data and Community Impact staff.
· Manage relationships with outside vendors related to grant development to ensure targets are met.
· Maintain file management systems for pre and post award processes.
· Collaborate with senior leadership to align grant strategies with organizational goals.
· Work closely with program staff to ensure grant proposals accurately reflect program needs and objectives.
· Coordinate with the data team to gather and analyze data required for grant applications and reporting.

· Experience in leading and motivating teams to achieve project goals and implementing process improvements.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Five to seven years direct experience in project management or grants development.
· Superior ability to write clearly, professionally, and persuasively and to review proposals and reports effectively and efficiently.
· Superior ability to maintain authentic internal and external relationships.
· Superior ability to cultivate and form relationships with funders and prospects via face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and written correspondence.
· Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks is essential.
· Ability to meet tight deadlines and work professionally under pressure.
· Skilled at influencing others without direct authority.
· Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and across departments.
· Ability to quickly learn and retain UWCCR’s content knowledge. Knowledge of and passion for fields of school readiness, poverty, and/or financial wellbeing preferred.
· Proficiency with relevant technology (Microsoft Office, grants management database, project management tools, etc.)

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Extensive oral communication with coworkers, potential donors, media, and the public in settings ranging from one-on-one to large groups including formal and informal presentations, training sessions and question and answer sessions, and by telephone.
· Work in an office environment, lift and move objects up to 40 pounds, such as large binders, books, boxes, and small office equipment. If over 40 pounds, assistance will be provided.
· Have sufficient finger/hand coordination and dexterity to operate and adjust office equipment such as telephone, computer, and calculator.
· React quickly under high pressure settings.
· Willingness to travel locally and overnight via plane, train, or private vehicle.
· Ability to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of an appropriate California operator’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, and adequate automobile insurance; possession and maintenance of a good driving record (as evidenced by freedom from multiple or serious traffic violation for at least a two-year duration) that does not contribute to an increase in UWCCR insurance rates.
