Overview
The Kaua‘i Humane Society is seeking a motivated and creative Marketing Coordinator - Temporary Hire to support our communications and marketing efforts during a key period of 2026 calendar development, events, and fundraising. This 16-week position is a great opportunity to build your portfolio while supporting meaningful, life-saving work in animal welfare.
Dates: June 23 – October 10, 2025, with about a 2 week training overlap with the current Marketing Coordinator depending on availability.
Job Type: In-person at the Kaua’i Humane Society (due to the collaborative nature of the role) not open to remote
Responsibilities
Calendar Photo Contest & Design
- Organize photo submissions and assist in closing voting (mid-July)
- Design monthly calendar layouts in Canva (Aug–Sept)
- Align design with KHS branding and print requirements
- Help launch calendar promotions in October (social, email, web)
In-Shelter & Digital Graphics
- Design flyers, social media assets, and marketing materials for shelter events and campaigns
- Collaborate with departments for content and approvals
- Access and use KHS brand assets via Canva Team
Brand Identity
- Ensure consistency across all visual content
- Uphold KHS branding standards in collaboration with Communications Coordinator
Fundraising Content
- Support fundraising initiatives for events like our October gala and adoption campaigns in collaboration with the Director of Development
- Assist with creating graphics, videos, postcards, and reports in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator and Director of Development
- Utilize email design tool Blackbaud, training provided.
Adoption Flyers
- Create flyers for long-stay animals using SOPs for format and distribution
- Help distribute flyers in the shelter and local community
Qualifications
- Must be on Kaua‘i or willing to relocate; in-person only due to onboarding and team collaboration.
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 1–2 years of experience in graphic design and/or marketing through coursework, internships, part-time work, or personal projects
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in marketing, graphic design, or communications
- Strong interest in nonprofit marketing and visual storytelling
- Proficient with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools
- Comfortable with computers and collaborative platforms (Google Drive, WordPress, etc.)
- Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
- Valid driver’s license for occasional off-site events

Compensation: $20–$23/hour, based on experience
