Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced gym manager who is passionate about helping others and contributing to a mission of improving lives through fitness and community. You will oversee all aspects of gym operations. Secondary role as CrossFit coach who also spearheads our regular ancillary programs. The Gym Manager will be responsible for membership management; customer service; staff scheduling; ensuring the gym runs smoothly; maintaining a clean, welcoming and safe environment for members
What you'll do:
- Create and maintain a positive and motivating atmosphere in the gym
- Head of Operations role includes managing staff schedules, facility management, supply/merchandise ordering, light cleaning, ensuring all equipment is in working order and properly maintained, weekly newsletter, regular athlete communication, organization/promotion of our regular social events.
- Business Development role includes developing and implementing strategies to increase membership numbers & retain existing members; maintaining accurate records and reports related to gym operations and finances; promoting and marketing gym services and events to attract new members and increase retention
- As Head of Special Programs, organize and promote our existing ancillary programs (on average 1 per quarter; e.g. Barbell Club, Row Club, etc).
- Coaching role includes leading CF group classes, Onboarding sessions for new athletes, 1-on-1’s, and small group sessions.
- Undergo ongoing mentorship from the Owner/Head Coach. Your development is an important part of the role, and you will also aid in the development of part-time coaches.
- You will train at CFWP, follow the class programming, and take classes as feasible. We want you to become an active part of our community.
- This is a CAREER and includes an expected level of professionalism. This is not a clock-in/clock-out role; there will be times you will work >40 hours a week, cover for part time coaches, etc. Our full time staff go the extra mile and this is more than a job to you.
What you'll bring:
- Experience: Must have previous operations management and/or coaching experience. Have coached people brand new to fitness as well as advanced athletes. Experience with a range of 1-on-1 sessions to group settings of up to 25 athletes. Highly desired: current CF L1 or higher or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months.
- Operations Knowledge: Knowledge/understanding of what it takes to keep a gym running. Highly organized leader with ability to manage many independent tasks throughout the day.
- Scheduling Flexibility: We are open all day Mon-Fri, so while core hours would be 8-4 most days, must have flexibility/willingness for occasional early mornings (5:30-8am) or evenings (4-7pm). Full time is 40 hours/week.
- Personality: Competent in building relationships with folks of all ages and backgrounds. Capable at putting people at ease and creating a comfortable environment.
- Fitness/CrossFit Proficiency: Proficient in all common CF skills and a high level mover. Fitness and nutrition are a priority for you personally. Willingness to embrace the CF methodology and become certified as a CrossFit trainer if you are not already.
- Growth Mindset: Always be learning. Thirst for knowledge from strength & conditioning experts OUTSIDE of the CF realm. Have interests outside of fitness; the more topics you know about, the easier to connect with broad group of people. When presented with a problem, you try to figure it out first before asking for help.
- Business Acumen: Interest and/or experience in ways to bring health and wellness to a wider audience than just our gym; you care about spreading the good word of fitness.
