The Professional Women’s Hockey League is seeking an experienced and passionate individual for the position of Head Athletic Trainer with PWHL Seattle team. The Head Athletic Trainer is the liaison between the medical, sports performance, coaches, and management in the coordinated care of our players' health, wellness, and game readiness/performance. Subject to the minimum qualifications listed below, we will review applicants of all levels of experience.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- First line emergency responder for player safety during game and practice injuries including head/spine trauma, airway compromise, hemorrhagic emergencies, and cardiac issues.
- Daily coordination of player health and wellness within a multi-disciplinary team of the medical director, medical consultants, second opinions, sports performance, physical therapists, coaching staff, and management.
- Staying current and compliant on all medical standards including turning in required documents to the PWHL within deadlines
- Leading a team of assistant athletic trainers who are focused on providing elite level care of the health, wellness, and safety of the players
- Handle player injuries and evaluate the athletes' conditions during every practice and game and proactively problem solve to mitigate injury risks by implementing training protocols and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to demonstrate clear, concise articulation of scenarios, options, risks, mitigations, and recommendations
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate effectively to treat each athlete
- Proven ability to work efficiently, effectively and calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage priorities and coordinate tasks to solve day-to-day challenges
- Ability to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work within a team structure and collaborate
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- The Head Athletic Trainer should have the following minimum qualifications:
- Be certified by either the National Athletic Trainers Association - Board of Certification - Athletic Training (NATA-BOC) or the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA)
- Hold current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Minimum of 3 years full-time experience (within the past 5 years) in elite hockey, defined as a Head or Assistant Athletic Trainer/Therapist in professional, major junior or college/university level
- Maintain the educational and licensure requirements to practice Athletic Training in state or province located.
- Must maintain HIPPA compliance.
- Ability to create and communicate emergency action plans.
Salary range for this role is : $90,000-$95,000 USD DOE
