Highwind Brewing Company Head Brewer Overview

Highwind Brewing Co. is a family-owned brewery looking to hire a talented full time head brewer to manage all operations. We are seeking someone with the skills and technical knowledge to brew consistent, quality beer. The head brewer will be responsible for all brewing operations. Duties will include but not limited to raw material acquisition and handling, recipe formulation, brewing, packaging, equipment maintenance, cleaning and sanitation. The dedicated staff to handle all brewery operations consist of head brewer and part time 5-10 hour per week cellarman.
Our 15 BBL brewery opened in February 2024 in historic downtown Junction CIty, KS. We have 4-5 core beer brands that are fixed and we encourage creative freedom with our head brewer. In addition to the brewhouse we operate two restaurants, event spaces, multiple bars, and future expansion opportunities to include rooftop event space!

Responsibilities
- Reports directly to owners
- 40-50 hour work weeks are to be expected.
- Manage and service three off site tap accounts, with vision to grow
- Assist and advice with potentially adding packaging line in the future
- Manage and operate Oktober can seamer for crowlers and 16 ounce cans.
- Manage and perform all brewhouse and beer production operations, including but not limited to; raw material/ingredient purchases, wort production, cellar and packaging tasks, and inventory management/organization.
- Manage production schedule based on sales depletion rates and distribution. Be the go-to person for all beer inventory needs and requests from other staff. Meticulously track sales volume across all sales avenues.
- Create new, exciting recipes on a regular basis while maintaining exceptional consistency throughout our core and seasonal brands. Constantly explore new concepts and ideas for new recipes to keep us on the leading edge of creativity.
- Always be planning three to six months ahead of schedule.
- Manage and/or perform all cleaning and sanitation procedures throughout the brewery. Maintain a consistently clean brewing area.
- Maintain all brewery equipment
- Manage and train part-time brewery staff.
- Provide regular communication with our team about upcoming beer releases and important inventory changes.
- Support taproom operations as well as other duties, as requested.
- Represent Highwind Brewing at craft beer events.
Qualifications
- Professional brewing production experience of at least 2 years
- Demonstrate understanding of complete brewing process
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Mechanically Inclined
