Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical skills, and attention to detail to ensure an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, with precision and artistry.
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations, maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
- Maintain an organized and clean kitchen environment, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained.
- Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Provide training and guidance to junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food handling practices.
- Engage with guests to provide recommendations on sushi selections and cater to dietary preferences when possible.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within the food industry.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, including traditional sushi preparation techniques.
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in food preparation methods.
- Experience in fine dining establishments is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with menu planning and catering services is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling.
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is advantageous but not required.
