Job Function
Provides coordination of overall student success in a pre-apprentice healthcare program from recruitment, needs assessment, placement and completion for the division of Health & Public Services in collaboration with the grant manager, faculty and administrators consistent with college policies and procedures. Recruits and guides students as they journey from career exploration through employment as an apprentice assisting them with reducing barriers to college and employment. This is a project-based position with the anticipated end date of January 31st, 2029, aligned with the conclusion of the project grant funding.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the apprenticeship grant manager and grant administrator to identify new communities to recruit students such as K-12, adult ed, and adults who are ready to transition to a new healthcare career.
- Collaborates with HPS leadership on marketing and public relations to plan events and produce materials to increase awareness of health career training for students and awareness of the pre-apprenticeship program.
- Collaborates with college counselors, advisors, career planners, and other college staff to assist students with reducing barriers to education and work and guide them into health career pathways leading to Registered Apprenticeships in healthcare.
- Engages with employers and monitors students’ progress in their pre-apprenticeship program.
- Promotes continuum of learning (workforce non-credit to academic credit) and collaborates within the division and the college to maximize the potential benefits for students.
- Represents the college and the division to the community, employers, governmental entities, and other audiences as appropriate.
- Creates and maintains effective information systems, such as Excel spreadsheets, and college systems to produce activity reports and fiscal forecasts as required or requested.
- Complies with college policies, procedures, and master affiliation agreements as well as applicable state, federal, or other agency accreditation, licensure, registration and/or certification requirements for all assigned programs.
- Demonstrates a commitment to work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.
- Serves on relevant college and community committees.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Education
Associate’s degree or higher in business or health, or equivalent of associate degree with significant relevant work experience required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Qualifications
Five years of experience in workforce development, higher education or career and technical education required. Experience in healthcare, grants, or apprenticeship highly desired.
