JOB TITLE:
Student Equipment Technician
JOB PURPOSE:
The Student Equipment Technician is primarily responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of large and small pieces of cardio/weight exercise equipment at Half Acre Gym and Wellness Center. Tasks involve diagnosing equipment malfunctions, researching schematic designs, recommending part orders, and then disassembling and replacing failed parts on everything from treadmills to exercise bicycles to selectorized weight machines and everything in-between. Equipment Techs also work to maintain the overall operations and cleanliness of the facility. An ideal candidate for this position is someone who is task-oriented, pays attention to detail, works well without much direct supervision, is organized and efficient, is familiar with tools, and enjoys solving complex technical problems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintaining Equipment Operation
- Review and update Fitness Asset Manager (online equipment database system).
- Manage Preventative Maintenance Schedule for all equipment in Half Acre.
- Carefully read product manuals and conduct all necessary maintenance procedures including troubleshooting machine failure.
- Research best practices for equipment and facility maintenance and make purchase recommendations.
- Manage functionality of Digi-Lockers.
- Carry out repairs on a timely basis for equipment that breaks down.
- Request and/or order parts or other materials.
Functionality of Half Acre
- Manage in-house repairs of miscellaneous items such as clocks, shower handles, blinds, furniture, and whiteboards.
- Manage facility projects, as assigned by Fitness Coordinator, Facility Operations Manager, Assistant Director of Operations or other full-time staff.
- Periodic heavy machine movement (greater than 200lbs)
- Periodic deep cleaning of the facility and exercise equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- MUST BE A STUDENT to apply.
- Preferable graduation date is AT LEAST 2 SEMESTERS AFTER HIRE.
- MUST INCLUDE A COVER LETTER speaking to the ability to work well independently as well as in a team and solve technical problems. Provide examples of previous experience working with basic maintenance and repair tools. Note: applications without cover letters will not be considered for interviews.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and the ability to navigate other software.
- Confident reviewing technical equipment manuals to determine functionality, identify parts and components in need of repair or replacement, and perform maintenance operations as directed.
- This position reports directly to the Fitness Coordinator.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous Experience reviewing and trouble shooting technical equipment manuals.
