We are seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Director to lead all HR and safety functions for our growing construction company. This role is responsible for developing and executing human resource and safety strategies that support operational excellence, workforce well-being, and legal compliance. The HR Director will work closely with leadership and field operations to build a culture of safety, performance, and accountability across all levels of the organization.

The Director of Human Resource plans, leads, directs, develops, and coordinates the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy. In addition, the Director of Human Resources directs the development, coordination, and implementation of occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization.

Key Performance Responsibilities

  • Strategic HR Leadership
    • Partner with executive leadership to align HR and safety strategies with business goals
    • Lead workforce planning, talent development, and organizational culture initiatives
    • Develop policies and practices that support high performance and safe operations
  • Safety Program Oversight
    • Oversee the company’s safety program, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations
    • Partner with field leadership to conduct jobsite safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
    • Lead safety training initiatives and ensure safety policies are up to date and effectively communicated
    • Monitor safety metrics, trends, and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement
  • Talent Acquisition & Development
    • Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and retention strategies for office and field roles
    • Implement training programs that incorporate both technical skills and safety protocols
    • Facilitate leadership development and succession planning
  • Employee Relations & Engagement
    • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and safety-conscious workplace culture
    • Resolve employee relations issues professionally and in compliance with applicable laws
    • Provide guidance to managers on performance management and safety accountability
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with all labor, employment, and safety laws and regulations
    • Maintain and enforce HR and safety policies, handbooks, and reporting procedures
    • Manage internal investigations, disciplinary actions, and incident reporting
  • Compensation, Benefits & Wellness
    • Administer competitive compensation and benefits programs
    • Evaluate benefit offerings that support employee health, well-being, and safety
    • Monitor labor market trends and provide data-driven recommendations
  • HR & Safety Operations
    • Oversee HRIS and safety reporting systems
    • Track and report on key HR and safety metrics (e.g., turnover, incident rates)
    • Supervise HR and safety team members and coordinate with external vendors as needed
