Purpose
The Industrial Engineering Process Engineer supports Lincoln Electric's Consumables business by driving continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives across manufacturing operations. This role leverages industrial engineering principles and Lean methodologies to optimize processes, improve productivity, enhance quality, reduce waste, and increase manufacturing efficiency. Partnering with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and business stakeholders, the Industrial Engineering Process Engineer develops and implements sustainable solutions that improve throughput, support automation and growth initiatives, and strengthen Lincoln Electric's position as a world-class manufacturing organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the application of industrial engineering principles to manufacturing flow, facility layout, visual management, and overall achievement of safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean manufacturing methodologies and a standardized approach across all manufacturing departments.
- Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes and systems to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and lower operating costs.
- Develop, maintain, and standardize process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process maps.
- Promote the integration of manufacturing processes with technology and automation solutions to improve operational performance.
- Collaborate with support teams and business stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical requirements for process and system enhancements.
- Analyze production, quality, and performance data to identify improvement opportunities and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Partner with production teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process-related issues impacting performance.
- Collaborate with quality teams to ensure manufacturing processes consistently meet product specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
- Develop and deliver training programs to support production teams on new processes, equipment, systems, and best practices.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure manufacturing equipment is properly maintained, repaired, and optimized for reliability and efficiency.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to industrial engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Support cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives that contribute to operational excellence and business growth.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company's overall strategy.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, process improvement, or related engineering roles.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with process mapping, workflow analysis, time studies, and capacity planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and utilize production data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with manufacturing systems or ERP platforms.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to work within a manufacturing environment and support operations as needed.
- For level II Engineer, minimum of 3 years of experience. Possesses working knowledge within their discipline and continues to build understanding of organizational processes and customers. Performs routine to moderately complex assignments, applying established guidelines to solve problems with moderate supervision.
- For level III Engineer, minimum 5 years of experience. Demonstrates advanced knowledge within their discipline and working knowledge of related areas. Leads projects or key project phases, serves as a resource to less experienced team members, and independently solves complex problems with minimal guidance.
- For level IV Engineer, minimum 7 years of experience. Recognized as a subject matter expert within the organization. Leads significant projects or functional teams, provides technical direction, and develops solutions to complex business and engineering challenges. Works independently and influences best practices across the organization.
- Selected candidate’s Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experiences.
