ABOUT THIS JOB
Qualified candidates will have spent at least one year in the past three where their primary role was administering IV drugs at any of the following:
- an Ambulatory Infusion Center
- a home infusion provider
- a cancer center
- a gastro, rheum, or neurology office.
In addition, ALL of the Following are Required:
- Valid Florida RN or APRN license.
- At least three years’ hands-on nursing experience.
- At least one year of prior experience in the last three years during which you started IVs every single day.
- Familiarity with common infusion drugs for gastro/neuro/rheum conditions. (For a list, see our website: https://coastalinfusion.com/drugs.html).
- Fluent English required. BILINGUAL English/Spanish preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and insurance and reliable transportation; willingness to travel to one or more of our facilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Prepare IV/SQ/IM drugs, perform infusions/injections, and monitor & discharge patients.
- Set-Up: Ensure that all treatment areas are clean, well-stocked, and ready for patients before their arrival.
- Preparation: Check each order for accuracy, then prepare medications using proper aseptic technique for administration to patients.
- Treatment: Start IVs by injecting patients directly or by veinipuncture, following all clinical and safety protocols and procedures as well as common “best practices” techniques. Monitor patients throughout their infusions and respond to any adverse reactions.
- Other Nursing Duties: Change dressings, flushs lines, performs lab draws.
- Cleaning and Restocking: Disinfect infusion chairs and surroundings and properly dispose of sharps and medical waste; restock supplies and maintain a clean, well-organized treatment area and nursing station, ready for the next patient.
- Documentation: Record all observations and assessments in nursing notes in WeInfuse EMR immediately after the conclusion of treatment and update referring physicians and others as appropriate about the results of treatment.
- Communication: Communicate the results of each infusion to the referring physician and PCP promptly after each treatment.
- Education: Keep patients informed about their treatment and condition, ensure patient comfort, and educate patients about proper care between and after treatments, including possible side-effects and the appropriate response.
