Position Details:
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours)
Location: Remote
Salary: $45-$55/hour (to be determined based on qualifications and experience)
Duration: 6 months (with an option to extend 9 to 12 months depending on team’s capacity, current workload and the contractor’s performance.)
Employee status: Independent Contractor
About the position:
We are seeking a versatile Instructional Designer with mid-level expertise in Learning Management System (LMS) administration to support our team on a 6‑month contract (with the potential for longer). This hybrid role combines the ability to design engaging, learner-centered eLearning experiences with the technical skills to manage, configure, and optimize LMS functionality.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong instructional design methodology, experience developing SCORM/xAPI-compliant courses, and proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining LMS systems. As part of our team, you’ll design eLearning content for a range of audiences. This includes both internal training modules tailored to our products and tools, as well as curriculum for external clients—particularly those focused on topics related to Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Instructional Design & Development
- Design and develop eLearning modules using Articulate 360 (Storyline) and other authoring tools.
- Create interactive learning experiences that leverage adult learning principles and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, Section 508).
- Collaborate with SMEs to gather content, validate workflows, and build accurate, role-relevant training.
- Develop assessments, knowledge checks, and course materials that ensure measurable learning outcomes.
- LMS Administration
- Administer, configure, and maintain the organization’s LMS (e.g., user management, permissions, course assignments).
- Upload, test, and troubleshoot SCORM/xAPI/AICC packages.
- Generate reports and analytics to measure learner engagement and training effectiveness.
- Provide technical support to clients, learners and internal stakeholders as needed.
- Cross-Functional Support
- Identify and address content or system gaps proactively.
- Partner with IT and instructional design teams to ensure seamless delivery of training.
- Stay current on emerging eLearning technologies and LMS best practices
Qualifications:
The minimum education and experience requirements for this position are:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 3+ years of both instructional design and LMS administration experience OR an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
- Proficiency in Articulate 360 (Storyline) – must provide own license.
- Strong portfolio of eLearning projects
- Strong understanding of instructional design frameworks (ADDIE, SAM) and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, Section 508).
- Hands-on experience administering one or more enterprise LMS platforms (e.g., Cornerstone, Docebo, Moodle, Blackboard)
- Strong understanding of SCORM, xAPI, and other eLearning standards
- Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and LMS customization
- Working knowledge of APIs, XML, JSON, SQL, or Python is a plus
- Strong ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and engage professionally with stakeholders and subject matter experts in a fast-paced environment
- Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing content for grammar, clarity, consistency, and user experience
- Experience in the Human Services or Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) field is a plus, but not required
