The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for confirming patient benefit eligibility. The position works with insurance vendor websites to obtain required information. Must have an understanding of Electronic Practice Management (EPM) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software to locate patient documents and run required reports. The clerk will work in a high-volume and rapidly changing environment and needs to know governmental and 3rd party plan guidelines to ensure payment for services. Assists in the Charge Processing, Cash Posting, and A/R departments as needed.

Monday to Friday (40 hours/week)
8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Essential Functions
- Runs verification reports daily
- Maintains accurate documentation on payer rules to ensure the appropriate payer is verified based on specialty
- Corrects insurance-related errors in the patients' records.
- Coordinates with co-workers to ensure the entire team completes verifications by the close of business
- Contacts Call center staff when repeated issue occurs on multiple visits and with issues of high importance.
- Communicates with department team leads to resolve high verification volumes and de-escalate any issues that may arise.
Required Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Required Experience:
One year of experience verifying medical insurance.
Supervision received from:
Patient Financial Services Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
