Eco-conscious gardening company ISAIAH’S FIGTREE is hiring an on-call Irrigation Technician/Assistant Gardener.
We are a team of freelance gardeners working all over the Metro NYC area. The Irrigation Technician/Assistant Gardener will work on-call as needed, with potential for long term assignments with flexible hours, bonuses, and increased pay over time.
JOB SUMMARY:
- Install, maintain, winterize, and troubleshoot drip irrigation systems in commercial and residential garden spaces around the Metro NYC area
- Communicate promptly with Isaiah’s Figtree management and garden staff
- Respond to job requests in a timely manner
- Properly estimate and obtain the necessary materials for irrigation jobs
- Interact with clients patiently and respectfully
- Take notes and pictures at each job site and log them into Isaiah’s Figtree Database
- Assist with gardening and landscaping jobs on occasion (weeding, trimming, planting, mulching, etc)
HOURS:
- On-call as needed. Management works with flexible schedules. Certain days can be requested on/off depending on candidates availability.
COMPENSATION:
- $25 - $30/hr; Commensurate with experience and expertise.
- Bonuses offered for good reviews from clients.
- Commissions offered for any new clients brought by the candidate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Expert knowledge of drip irrigation systems: how to install, maintain, winterize, and troubleshoot
- Knowledge of organic garden practices and use of garden tools
- Ability to work with punctuality, integrity, respect, and resourcefulness
- Ability to take direction but also work independently and problem solve
- Ability to lift up to 50lb. at various times throughout the day
- Energetic, motivated and hardworking
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to communicate with a diverse community
- Preferred but not mandatory: Valid NY Drivers License; comfortable driving a small truck around NYC
- Preferred but not mandatory: Knowledge of woodworking and/or masonry a plus
