NICOR is looking for an energetic and motivated IT Support Specialist to maintain and support our technology infrastructure. In this mid-level role, you'll set up and support user systems, administer VPN and phone access, manage IT assets, and ensure data security while providing responsive, user-focused support via ticketing, remote, and in-person service.
Your day might start troubleshooting a VPN issue and end up helping implement a new backup solution, no two days are the same. This position offers opportunities for growth into systems administration or IT project leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure systems and infrastructure run with minimal downtime
- Provide user support via ticketing system, in-person, or remotely
- Set up new users: Office 365, Domain, SHIMS, email
- Administer phone systems: user setup, voicemail, vendor liaison
- Manage VPN setup and access for remote employees
- Revoke system access for offboarded users
- Assist with monthly and annual ERP processes
- Maintain inventory of all IT assets
- Apply security protocols and data recovery processes
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment and maintenance
- Stay current with IT trends and practices
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in IT or related field
- 3+ years of experience in IT support
- Strong understanding of network and client/server systems
Preferred SkillsExperience:
- Redhat Linux 8+, Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016+
- Familiarity with Dell, HP, Lenovo hardware
- Experience with Cisco Meraki, Netgear, Ruckus
- Networking, installations, and system admin tasks
- Certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+) or Google IT Support/Cybersecurity are a plus
Soft Skills:
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and team-oriented
- Able to meet deadlines and adapt under pressure
Work ConditionsTools
Environment: Office and warehouse. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, 50 lbs. occasionally. Work in confined areas (under desks, etc.). Occasional after-hours work and travel may be required.
