Job description
Salary: £25,000 - 26,000 per year
Requirements
- Some experience in an IT support or helpdesk role; an apprenticeship, college course or home-lab experience also counts.
- A good grounding in Windows and Microsoft 365, or a keen interest in learning them.
- A basic understanding of networking, such as IP addresses, DHCP, DNS and Wi-Fi.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the patience and ability to explain things clearly to non-technical people.
- Good organisation, reliability and punctuality.
- A genuine interest in solving problems and a desire to keep learning.
- A full driving licence for occasional client visits within about an hour of Dinnington.
- CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900) or similar is helpful but not essential.
- Experience with a ticketing system or remote support tools is helpful but not essential.
- Exposure to Intune, Entra ID or Azure is helpful but not essential.
Responsibilities
- Answer calls, emails and tickets from client end users, and log, prioritise and update tickets clearly.
- Diagnose and resolve first-line issues, including password resets, MFA, Outlook and Teams problems, printers, and basic Windows and connectivity faults.
- Administer Microsoft 365 users, including setting up starters and leavers, licences, mailboxes, shared mailboxes and permissions.
- Prepare and deploy laptops and desktops, including Intune enrolment, with training provided.
- Escalate more complex issues to 2nd and 3rd line engineers with clear notes, and learn from how they are resolved.
- Keep client documentation and knowledge base articles accurate and up to date.
- Make occasional onsite visits to set up equipment or support users.
- Suggest ways to improve our processes and the service we provide to clients.

We are a well-established, growing Managed IT Services provider based in Dinnington, South Yorkshire, supporting SMEs across Sheffield, Doncaster, Lincoln and surrounding areas for over 15 years. Our nine-person team is expanding, and we are ISO 9001 certified and hold Cyber Essentials Plus and IASME Cyber Assurance. We are also developing Managed AI Services using Microsoft Copilot and AI agents. The helpdesk is the first point of contact for our clients, making this a central role in the customer experience. We offer a salary of approximately £25,000–£26,000, hands-on training, a clear path towards 2nd line, support with certifications, exposure to cyber security and AI projects, and a friendly team where ideas are heard. The role is based in Dinnington, Sheffield (S25), with occasional client visits.
