Requirements

  • We are seeking someone with practical experience diagnosing and resolving IT hardware, software and connectivity problems.
  • We require knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra and device-management systems such as Intune.
  • We require experience supporting desktops, laptops, printers, networks and wireless equipment.
  • We value strong problem-solving and organisational skills, a helpful and patient approach, and the ability to support users with different levels of technical knowledge.
  • We require the ability to maintain accurate records, follow service-desk procedures, and understand information security, confidentiality and data protection.
  • We require flexibility to work across College and primary-school sites, and a willingness to support occasional events outside normal College hours.
  • Experience supporting AV, livestreaming, CCTV, telephony or access-control systems is advantageous.
  • We require an enhanced DBS check and online checks as part of our commitment to safeguarding young people.

Responsibilities

  • We rely on our IT Technician to provide approachable, responsive day-to-day technical support to staff and students across our College sites and feeder primary schools.
  • We need our IT Technician to manage and update support tickets, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, account and connectivity issues, and escalate complex or unresolved problems.
  • We expect our IT Technician to produce technical documentation and standard operating procedures; install, configure, maintain and repair devices and peripherals; and deploy applications and device policies.
  • We need our IT Technician to administer Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra accounts, groups and licences; support network equipment and wireless access points; maintain our asset register; and complete stock checks.
  • We expect our IT Technician to securely wipe, dispose of and record retired equipment, prepare rooms and systems for examinations and events, apply security updates, and promptly report suspected security incidents.
  • We need our IT Technician to install and troubleshoot AV equipment, manage our IT and AV booking system, and set up and operate sound, projection and livestreaming for events.
  • We expect our IT Technician to support CCTV, telephone and door-access systems; manage access cards and fobs with accurate records; and retrieve CCTV footage only through approved processes and in accordance with data-protection requirements.

St Bedes and St Josephs Catholic College is recruiting a permanent, full-year IT Technician to support technology and audio-visual systems across two College sites and the feeder primary schools we support. The role reports to our IT Services Delivery Manager and covers service desk support, devices, Microsoft systems, networks, AV, livestreaming, CCTV, telephony and access control. The salary is £27,274–£29,070 per annum, depending on relevant experience, for 37 hours per week. The start date is as soon as possible.
