Job Summary
We are seeking an up-beat kid-friendly Piano Teacher to lead one of our weekly beginner "Piano & Keyboard" after-school classes! The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and will be responsible for delivering a fun and engaging 1-hour class session, each week, on Thursdays 3:00-4:00pm- teaching your group of kids to jam on their keyboards with confidence! This role is mostly self-managed, & involves working with students ranged K-2nd Grade.. Online training/coaching is available!
Class is at a school in the Laurelhurst neighborhood of Seattle. All applicants must be available for, & to confirm if hired:
Thursdays: (9/15-12/11) 3:00-4:00pm
Duties
- Teach the students the names of the white keys & how to play the C major scale
- Show the campers how to improvise a simple melody in the key of C Major
- Engage the students with learning simple chord progressions, melodies, and basic notation-reading.
- facilitate group jamming & individual creative activities
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a fun but also cohesive learning atmosphere.
- Cultivate Creative Confidence by encouraging the kids to try new things & be okay with making mistakes!
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred.
- Experience or knowledge in music & piano is a must
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with students of all ages.
- A passion for teaching and propensity for positive-thinking.
- Ability to jive with the philosophy that "music is the language of the soul"
