JOB SUMMARY:
Assist in routine organization and maintenance of the lab. Under direct supervision, maintain and organize laboratory equipment and cell culture of Plasmodium falciparum. Perform wet-lab experiments to identify mechanisms that govern pathogenesis. Other duties as assigned. Two vacancies to be filled.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Work closely under supervision to order and organize lab equipment as well as general maintenance of the laboratory space. This will be primarily achieved by purchasing general lab supplies to maintain efficient stocks of various supplies. Assist with organizing the location and storage of said lab equipment/supplies.
40% - Essential - Perform general lab techniques including but not limited to: cell culture, microbiological, microscopic, biochemical, and standard phenotypic assays.
20% - Essential - Maintain a detailed lab notebook with information about all experiments and experimental results. Provide regular summaries and presentations to the lab and PI of all work performed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent and work experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting, in a health care setting or in a general maintenance or machine shop environment. A bachelor's degree in a related scientific discipline may be substituted for the required work experience.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree - Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Biochemistry or related field.
Work Experience 1+ years with bookkeeping and organization of sensitive material. Generation and isolation of bacterial plasmids. Basic molecular biology techniques such as PCR, maintenance of bacterial culture, and nucleic acid purification.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hours: 20 per week
Anticipated duration of this assignment: August 2025 - June 2026
COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary Range: $15.29 - $17.00/hour
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
