LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE FOREMAN
We are seeking a hardworking and dedicated individual, who is responsible, dependable, reliable and energetic, capable of contributing to the company in a positive and enthusiastic manner. The goal of this position is to effectively and efficiently provide a high level of garden maintenance services; this individual possess great time management and communication skills, is an effective team leader with has strong leadership qualities and excellent people skills. This position requires an individual who is comfortable receiving and giving direction to act as liaison between management and crew. Working with Maintenance Manager to help identify and resolve any potential and/or existing problems by assessing overall health and aesthetics of gardens; making recommendation and implementing appropriate gardening techniques to maintain grounds.
Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:
CREW MANAGEMENT—Obtain a clear understanding of tasks and expectations for each client. Manage, supervise and instruct crew on site, delegate and outline tasks, responsible for making sure task are executed in a timely manner, provide training on correct gardening techniques and professional behavior as needed. Lead by example to oversee the activities of the crew which perform duties such as landscape & lawn maintenance, mulching, fertilizing, seasonal décor, watering, mowing, and pruning. Upholding safe working conditions, correcting unsafe working practices and enforcing use of required personal protective equipment when appropriate. Tracking tools and equipment on site and trucks, report lost or broken tools immediately.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT—Candidate must be capable of managing a crew, project paper work and materials. Managing a list of assigned clients and their gardens. Clearly expressing to the crew a clear understanding of tasks and expectations for the day. Working side by side with crew while supervising the planting and layout of bulbs, annuals, perennials, container gardens and seasonal/holiday decor and the on-going care including watering, feeding, deadheading, and pruning in all seasons. Bring attention to the Maintenance Manager any discrepancies, obvious plant diseases, plant insect problems, and unusual or poor plant growth habit. Have a working knowledge plant material and proper planting techniques. Provide timely and effective assistance to clients and staff to achieve common core goals. Tracking time, employees, tasks and materials accurately and legibly and completing required paper work in a timely manner on a daily basis. Responsible for loading and unloading trucks at start and end of day making sure that tools and equipment are secure and accounted for. Other miscellaneous duties as needed/assigned.
Qualifications:
Three to five years’ experience in the field of landscape gardening Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Candidate must possess a working knowledge of fine gardening, annuals and container materials, general horticultural knowledge of insects and diseases; landscape maintenance practices. Individual should have working knowledge with all aspects of landscape maintenance including edging, mulching, hand pruning, weeding, dead heading, hedge trimming, able to distinguish between weeds and perennials. Strong organizational and time management skills, be self-motivated, resourceful, detail-oriented, and energetic, able to manage people and schedules to ensure maximum efficiency while building a cooperative and positive team spirit. A valid Connecticut driver’s license is required, clean driving record preferable, CDL a plus. CT pesticide license a plus. Preference will be given to bi-lingual (Spanish/English) speaking candidates with good English communications skills, capable of interacting with both clients and other contractors.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
