Full time position in office splitting their time between buildings with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Medical Terminology and Scheduling experience required including FMLA, Retro authorizations and help with other duties as needed.

A Brief Overview
Responsible for leading and being a resource and mentor for the scheduling staff and other appropriate staff. Provides guidance and orientation to new hires. Represents the scheduling staff on workgroup and projects, including development of best practices for all scheduling areas in the area of responsibility. May assist leadership in scheduling, maintaining, and disseminating an accurate staff schedule. Schedules appointments according to required patient care protocols. Oversees medical necessity validation and handles confidential medical information along with documentation of medical orders into the health information system. Leads work in a fast paced, high volume patient environment with the ability to prioritize tasks, provide guidance and follow-up as needed. Assists leader with hiring, orientation and coaching process.
What you will do
- Collaborates with all departments necessary to complete all aspects of patient care coordination that needs to occur on a day-to-day basis all Avera facilities.
- Ensures information is relayed to all scheduling staff and proper training delivered for new hires as well as process changes, EMR updates, scheduling workflow changes, and treatment scheduling plans.
- Oversees verification of relevant patient information and provider orders to schedule the requested or recommended services in an accurate, timely and sequential manner.
- Serves as a resource to staff/patients/visitors by assisting with trouble shooting tasks and responsive to follow up.
- Develops best practices and reviews workflows for efficiencies and consistencies between departments.
- Represents schedulers on important matters while gathering feedback to assist in collaborative decision making for the program.
- Assists in maintaining the scheduling module applications and schedule templates.
- Acts as subject matter expert and mentor and coach staff as needed.
- Complete all duties of Scheduling Specialist.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- Associate's of Science in Medical Assisting
- 1-3 years hospital, medical office, scheduling or admitting experience
