Job Description
We are currently seeking a Lead Security Guard to join our team. In this role, you will take charge of on-site security-related incidents, oversee guard posts, monitor parking lot activity and the shipping yard, and ensure the safety of all employees, contractors and property. You will also lead the response at designated posts when necessary for driver issues, business disruptions and system failures. As Security Lead, you will enforce all company policies and procedures, maintain order during emergencies and ensure a safe working environment through professional leadership and proactive intervention. Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and a state-issued security guard license. The ideal candidate has a strong working knowledge of security technology systems, including CCTV, access control and Yard Management Systems (YMS).
A day on the job looks like this:
- Supervising and supporting on-site security personnel across all properties and shifts
- Responding promptly to driver complaints, incidents and other yard-related issues
- Acting as the lead responder to disruptions in business operations, including system outages and alarms
- Coordinating and responding to medical emergencies, alarm activations and critical security threats
- Developing and managing guard schedules, shift coverage and timekeeping to ensure adequate site coverage
- Monitoring and managing access control systems and CCTV surveillance across all properties
- Training new and existing guards on the YMS and other security technologies
- Conducting on-site investigations and preparing detailed incident and activity reports
- Enforcing all security policies and procedures consistently and fairly
- Leading in managing confrontations, de-escalating threats and resolving conflicts in a professional manner
- Maintaining a strong security presence while upholding customer service standards
- Observing and reporting incidents to management and appropriate city authorities
- Wearing the required security uniform to remain easily identifiable at all times
- Working in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions regularly
Qualifications
Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred
- 3–5 years of security experience, including 1–2 years in a leadership role
- Valid driver’s license and state security guard license required
- AED certification and training in CPR and First Aid preferred
- Ability to drive a patrol vehicle
- Strong knowledge of security systems, including CCTV, access control and YMS
- Exceptional communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and lead during emergencies and other high-stress situations
- Required to work overtime when awaiting proper relief and during emergency responses that occur during scheduled shifts, off-hours or weekends
- Physically capable of performing patrols, standing or patrolling for extended periods and responding to incidents

At Lakeshore, we pay local market wages for employees that reside within Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
For this position, new employees joining Lakeshore who live within Los Angeles and Orange Counties are typically brought into the organization at an hourly rate between $25.72 - $27.00 depending on relevant experience & skillset.
This range is indicative of projected hiring range. The annual base compensation will take into account each candidate's relevant experience, location, and skillset.
