Job Summary: The Lead Restoration Technician is a highly skilled and experienced professional responsible for overseeing and performing all aspects of property restoration projects. This role involves direct hands-on work, leading a crew of technicians, ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety protocols, and providing exceptional customer service. The Lead Technician is often the primary on-site point of contact for clients and plays a crucial role in maintaining project quality and efficiency.
Schedule
- This role has a Monday-Friday schedule
- On-Call: 2 nights a week as well as one weekend a month.
Extraction and Removal:
- Operating water extraction equipment (e.g., portable extractors, truck-mounted systems) to remove standing water from affected areas.
- Demolishing and removing damaged materials such as drywall, flooring (carpet, pad, hardwood, laminate), insulation, and trim.
- Loading and unloading debris into appropriate containers or vehicles for disposal.
Drying and Dehumidification:
- Setting up and monitoring drying equipment including air movers, dehumidifiers, and air scrubbers.
- Assisting in establishing and maintaining proper containment barriers (e.g., plastic sheeting, zip walls) to control airflow and prevent cross-contamination.
- Monitoring moisture levels with specialized equipment under supervision.
Cleaning and Disinfection:
- Cleaning and disinfecting affected surfaces and contents to prevent mold growth and eliminate contaminants.
- Wiping down structural components, furniture, and other salvageable items.
- Performing general cleanup of job sites, ensuring they are left in a clean and organized state.
Equipment Management:
- Cleaning, maintaining, and organizing tools and equipment.
- Loading and unloading company vehicles with necessary equipment and supplies.
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions or damage to supervisors.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of the job site, including comprehensive photos, videos, moisture readings, sketches, and detailed notes on project progress, equipment placement, and drying cycles.
- Complete daily logs, work orders, timecards, and other required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, often utilizing company software.
- Communicate job site progress, challenges, and any changes in scope directly to the Project Manager.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhering to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, and eye protection.
- Following IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) standards and industry best practices.
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Customer Service:
- Interacting with clients in a professional and courteous manner, representing the company positively.
- Addressing client concerns or questions on-site, or escalating to a supervisor as needed.
General Duties:
- Assisting technicians and supervisors with various tasks as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned to support the water mitigation process.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, FRST, OR AMRT) are required.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience in property restoration (water, fire, mold). Related experience accepted.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (100+ lbs) regularly.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and in varying temperatures.
- Comfortable working in environments with dust, mold, and other potential hazards (with appropriate PPE).
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and their uses.
- Ability to effectively teach and contribute to the development of team technicians through demonstration and training.
- Motivated and organized with a positive attitude.
- Personable and professional, dedicated to customer service.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships and drive sales.
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Fluent in English and able to pass a background check, including a motor vehicle record check.
