Project 10: Transition Education Network is Florida's statewide discretionary project supporting the secondary
transition of youth with disabilities. It is funded by the Florida Department of Education/Bureau of Exceptional
Student Education (FDOE/BESE). Project 10's primary charge is to assist school districts in providing appropriate
planning and timely transition services and programs to assist youth with disabilities in their transition to adulthood.
Project 10 also serves as a collaborative resource for other state agencies, discretionary projects, non-profit
organizations, and families in the provision of transition services for students served in exceptional student
education. This project is housed under the College of Education at the University of South Florida at the St.
Petersburg campus.
Position Summary
This position requires provision of training and technical assistance to area school district personnel in topics
related to exemplary practice in secondary transition services for students with disabilities. The person filling this
position is expected to work collaboratively with other regional agency representatives and other FDOE-sponsored
projects relevant to transition of youth with disabilities. This position is a tele-commute position and the individual
that is hired will be expected to reside within the region of Florida in which the individual is being hired to serve.

Serves as the Northeast Florida Area contact Regional Transition Representative for Project 10: Transition Education Network, addressing transition-related needs and questions at the district level. 

This position is a tele-commute position and the person is expected to reside in the Northeast area of the state of Florida.

Conducts initial and ongoing district needs assessment related to transition of students with disabilities.
 

Communicates with statewide Regional Transition Representatives (RTRs) and Project Administration regarding concerns and issues in the field. 

Carries out other relevant responsibilities as assigned by Project Directors and/or Principal Investigators.

In collaboration with other Project 10 staff, this position will continue to establish a mentor network among districts with the goal of improving district outcomes on state performance plan indicators relevant to transition of students with disabilities.
 

Provides training and technical assistance to district personnel involved with transition of
students with disabilities and provide information to parent and advocacy groups regarding
transition of students with disabilities.


Collaborates with regional agency and Florida Department of Education Project 10
personnel regarding initiatives that involve transition of students with disabilities and other
related duties as assigned.


Coordinate regional transition meetings and attend statewide meetings that relate to
transition topics.

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor's degree in education, Special/Exceptional Education or equivalent with one year of experience in a professional training position; or a master's degree in the same field. Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, at least five years of full-time employment at the local school district level that directly involves working with the secondary transition of youth with disabilities from school to post-school life; previous experience in related area of education; at least 1 year of full-time work involving a role as a presenter and/or trainer. FLSB1310 Equivalency: 
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
