Legal Assistant – Criminal Defense
Remote | Full-Time
RecLatam is hiring on behalf of a U.S.-based law firm seeking a highly detail-oriented and reliable Legal Assistant to support its criminal defense practice.
This role will primarily focus on monitoring pre-charge matters and conducting database searches to identify newly filed criminal charges, warrants, and other relevant case developments. Because the accuracy of these searches is critical to the firm's ability to respond promptly to new filings, the ideal candidate must demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy when entering and reviewing information.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular searches across designated court, government, and legal databases for pre-charge clients.
- Monitor for newly filed criminal charges, warrants, court records, and other relevant case developments.
- Accurately enter client information and search criteria across multiple databases.
- Review search results carefully and identify information requiring attorney or team attention.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of searches performed and results obtained.
- Update internal case management systems and client files as necessary.
- Escalate potential new charges, warrants, or discrepancies promptly to the appropriate team member.
- Follow established procedures and checklists to ensure searches are completed consistently and accurately.
- Assist with administrative and case-management tasks as requested by attorneys and the legal team.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Administrative Assistant, or in another detail-oriented professional role.
- Experience working with a U.S. law firm or criminal defense practice is a must.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform repetitive, process-driven work without sacrificing quality.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable navigating multiple databases and technology platforms.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive client information professionally.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and follow established procedures consistently.
