Job Title: LiDAR and CAD Specialist
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented LiDAR and CAD Data Analyst to join our team part-time. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming raw LiDAR data into accurate and detailed floor plans, playing a crucial part in our building information project.
The ideal candidate will be willing to learn our business processes, terminology, policies, and regulations, as well as the systems requirements for post-processing of LiDAR point cloud data. The candidate will become proficient using LiDAR vendor software and third-party software to convert point cloud data into floor plans. You will process and analyze point cloud data from mobile LiDAR devices, ensuring data quality and adherence to industry standards. Your expertise will be vital in classifying and filtering point clouds to isolate building structures and interior features, and subsequently extracting mapping features to create precise 2D and 3D floor plans.
You will work extensively with CAD software (MicroStation or AutoCAD), as well as specialized LiDAR processing software, to convert complex point cloud data into usable floor plans. Quality control will be a key aspect of your role, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all deliverables.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Process raw LiDAR data to generate accurate point cloud datasets, ensuring data quality and adherence to industry standards
- Extract mapping features from LiDAR point clouds and convert them into usable floor plans
- Utilize CAD software (such as MicroStation or AutoCAD) to create and edit floor plans based on processed LiDAR data
- Process and analyze LiDAR point cloud data collected from mobile LiDAR devices
- Classify and filter point cloud data to isolate building structures and interior features
- Extract mapping features from LiDAR point clouds to create detailed floor plans
- Utilize specialized software to convert point cloud data into 2D and 3D floor plans
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of floor plans
Required Skill and/or Experience
Knowledge of CAD software (MicroStation or AutoCAD) and data management
- Ability to learn and adapt to new software and systems
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
