We are a small, collegial civil litigation firm handling mostly commercial disputes/litigation. We are searching for a junior attorney with strong academic credentials, an interest in litigation, and a desire to be a part of a fast-growing practice. We prefer an hourly arrangement for now, but there is an opportunity to grow into a full-time salaried position (or remain as part-time if that is your preference). The right candidate will have the opportunity to gain substantive litigation experience (including drafting, court appearances and significant client interaction) as part of an ambitious, tight-knit team of young litigators. Our office is in central midtown -- the associate would have an office space to work out of, but could also work remotely much of the time.
Requirements:
- Must currently be a member in good standing of the New York bar.
- At least 1 year of litigation experience.
- Strong writing skills, and the ability to work independently and efficiently draft litigation documents to filing-ready form.
- High level of competence with computers and digital systems used by attorneys.
- A willingness to be directly accountable for court appearances, motion drafting, active negotiations, and client management.
- Exceptional predilection for efficiency and organization.
Other valued credentials/experience:
- Experience litigating business disputes, employment law matters, or debt enforcement/collection is a plus.
- Conscientiousness and an interest in social justice.
