Position Summary
The Live In House Director resides in the chapter facility and is responsible for overseeing daily operations, maintaining financial and administrative records, supervising staff, and ensuring the safety and well-being of members. This role requires professionalism, discretion, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with members, alumni, volunteers, staff, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Management
- Arrange for routine services including cleaning, equipment maintenance, landscaping, pest control, and safety inspections.
- Maintain a list of approved service and repair vendors.
- Supervise repairs, deliveries, and scheduled inspections.
- Ensure the facility meets health, safety, and security standards as outlined by the fraternity, House Board, and local regulations.
Safety & Security
- Maintain emergency contact information for police, fire, medical, and counseling services.
- Coordinate and document fire drills and evacuation procedures once per term.
- Ensure evacuation plans are posted and life-safety equipment is functional.
- Perform nightly security checks of doors, windows, and alarm systems.
- Maintain a First Aid kit and basic knowledge of first aid procedures.
- Retain a complete set of facility keys and/or access codes
- Know the location and operation of all major utility cutoffs.
Resident & Member Relations
- Post regular “office hours” for accessibility to members.
- Offer support and guidance to members as needed, maintaining confidentiality.
- Eat at least one meal daily with members to foster community and presence in the house.
- Host and welcome guests, including fraternity/sorority officers, parents, alumni, and friends.
- Conduct room checks before and after each closing 1-2 times per year, and random checks during the term in coordination with the House Board.
- Provide written lists of necessary repairs or equipment needs for House Board approval.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular reports to the House Board, including updates on staff performance, facility needs, and financial status.
- Meet weekly with the House Chairman or designated committee member.
- Attend House Board and Chapter Council meetings as requested, providing reports as needed.
- Attend facility orientation meetings and meetings related to house operations.
- Communicate respectfully and confidentially with members, advisors, and alumni.
- Participate in campus House Director programs and activities.
Compliance & Governance
- Uphold fraternity/sorority bylaws, standing rules, and housing policies.
- Enforce chapter house rules and support the House Board in policy implementation.
Financial Management
- Maintain financial records, ledgers, and departmental books.
- Pay bills and ensure payroll, reports, and state/federal payments are submitted on time.
- Support with preparing the annual house budget based on projected income and expenses.
- Meet regularly with the House Board Treasurer and President to review cash flow and budget status.
- Provide access to financial records during regular working hours.
Staff Supervision & Food Services
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff ( housekeeper).
- Partner with the food vendor’s chef on meal planning as needed.
- Ensure the house is equipped, stocked, and prepared at the beginning of each academic term.
- Source supplies and snacks for the house as needed
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage vendor relationships effectively.
- Financial management experience, including budgeting and payroll.
- Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance, and safety requirements.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, with flexibility for house needs.
- Commitment to discretion, professionalism, and fostering a positive living environment.

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
