Saddle River Day School is seeking a passionate and dedicated full-time Art teacher to join the Lower School team for the 2025-2026 school year. This teacher will lead engaging and hands-on arts classes for students in PreK-3 through 2nd grade.
:
- Collaborate to develop a curriculum that meets the social, emotional, and academic needs of students in the program
- Develop lessons that introduce students to a variety of media, techniques, and artistic styles, encouraging exploration and individual expression
- Clearly and effectively communicate with families about their child’s academic, social and emotional growth and development
- Create a classroom community where each child feels valued as an individual
- Coordinate with the other Lower School teachers and Visual Arts Department members to maintain consistency in curriculum
- Motivate students to participate in various educational activities
- Create a positive, structured, learning and safe environment for students which nurtures artistic expression
- Develop and maintain student behavioral and discipline policies
- Accommodate different learning styles and instruction methodology for students’ various learning styles and needs
- Maintain accurate attendance and grade records for each student
- Monitor student activities on school premises and ensure safety of every student in the classroom and school grounds
- Attend educational training and workshops for professional growth
- Integrate technology and current educational trends into classroom practices
- Participate actively in the life of the school community beyond the classroom, including contributing to extracurricular programs, events, and committees
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Art, Art Education, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Have experience teaching art in an early childhood and/or elementary setting (other relevant experiences will be considered)
- Demonstrate a passion for visual arts and a commitment to nurturing creativity in young learners
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
