A successful and established printing company has a full-time opening for a Machine / Hand Operator at our Midland, Michigan production plant.
Duties include performing a variety of hand and machine bindery operations to assemble and bind printed materials in a fast-paced commercial printing environment. Other duties may include running digital printers, and related equipment as well as packaging and shipping of completed jobs.
Experience in a similar setting is preferred, but not required. We have open positions for both part and full-time, Monday – Friday, first shift.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assemble, sort, and bind materials by hand or machine.
- Operate, feed, tend to, and maintain various equipment.
- Operate other machines such as printers and assist co-workers as needed.
- Float between departments and type of work being performed.
- Examine printed material and finished product for defects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Preferred skills/experience:
- The Ability to perform basic arithmetic skills, and be detail oriented.
- The ability to perform basic computer skills, must be computer literate.
- Ability to read and communicate (both oral and written) in English and understand job ticket specifications and instructions.
- Ability to apply problem-solving in a team atmosphere as well as individually.
- Requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire shift.
- Frequently lift materials up to 50 pounds.
- Requires pushing and pulling pallet trucks with loads weighing up to 3,000 pounds.
- The ability to work overtime if needed to meet customer demands.
- Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and equipment.
- Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and schedules.
