Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Mail Material Specialist
The Office of Printing, Surplus Property & Mail Services is the State's resource for printing and mailing services for State of Kansas agencies. The Senior Administrative Specialist performs tasks to sort and deliver Building Mail and US Mail twice a day.
Duties and responsibilities in Mail Services consist of the following:
- Performs technical mail distribution in compliance with Federal Postal Service guidelines, policies and regulations.
- Prepares mail utilizing computerized scales, electronic mail machines, and postage meters for automated processing, pre-sort, and barcoding.
- Completes pickup and delivery for mail and state distribution including boxes, hampers, pushing/pulling carts weighing up to 1000 lbs.
- Ensures official state mail conforms to guidelines of Domestic Mail Manual and International Mail Manual.
- Enters correct coding for postage and discount rates for direct billing of State agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
One year of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Must be able to lift and carry flats of mail weighing up to 70 lbs; push, pull, and manipulate to load onto or from vehicles and docks, wheeled carts carrying weights of up to 1000 lbs; and push and pull pallets of packaged bulk mail weighing up to and in excess of 1000 lbs. Considerable time is spent on your feet while on mail runs, sorting or processing mail.
Licensing & Certification: Valid driver’s license
