Maintenance Engineer (Electrical / AGV Training Programme) - Temp to Perm

Location: Wolverhampton

Rate: £40 per hour (Umbrella PAYE)

Salary Equivalent: £65,000 per annum + Premium Weekend Overtime

Shift Pattern: 3-Shift Rotation, 39 Hours per Week

Contract: Temp-to-Perm

Overview

A fantastic opportunity for an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer looking to develop into an AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) Subject Matter Expert.

Joining a modern manufacturing environment, you'll support a fleet of AGVs and advanced automated systems, receiving extensive training on vehicle diagnostics, controls, automation, PLCs and autonomous technologies. This role is ideal for engineers with strong electrical maintenance skills who want to move into a specialist automation and AGV-focused position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and fault-find AGVs, automated material handling systems and production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, controls and automation faults
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown support
  • Support AGV reliability, performance and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct electrical inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Work closely with operations teams to maximise equipment availability and uptime
  • Develop into a site AGV Subject Matter Expert through structured training and mentoring

What You'll Need

  • Time-served apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong electrical fault-finding experience within manufacturing, logistics, warehousing or automated environments
  • Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, drives, sensors, motors or automation systems
  • A desire to specialise in AGV technology and advanced automation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team
