Environmental Assessment Services, LLC. (EAS) seeks to hire a Malacologist/Aquatic Ecologist with experience along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Responsibilities:
- Preparation of Programmatic Biological Assessment (PBA) and Standard Local Operating Procedures (SLOPES) for aquatic species that occur along the Texas Gulf Coast.
- Evaluate existing information on aquatic species and identification of additional data and information necessary to develop a PBA and SLOPES for each aquatic species or group of aquatic species (i.e., data gaps).
- Conducts research and compiles data to assess the potential effects and impacts of proposed programmatic actions along the Texas Gulf Coast on the aquatic species.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in aquatic ecology, fisheries, or related field with at least two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of and experience with Texas Gulf Coast aquatic (freshwater and intertidal) species and Section 7 of the ESA
- Experience researching and compiling information from the scientific literature and agency reports, conducting impact assessments, and preparing reports
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, and Adobe products
- Desire to work effectively in a team environment
- Effective and efficient verbal and written communication skills (write technical reports, present oral presentations, and coordinate with clients and agencies)
- Expertise in environmental regulations and consultation processes under the Endangered Species Act
- Prior NEPA/ESA Section 7 Training and an understanding of the procedures for interagency consultation and preparation of PBAs and SLOPES
- Technical writing and communication: ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive reports
- Regulatory knowledge: Understanding regulations like the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
- Other relevant regulations: knowledge of other federal and state regulations (Clean Water Act)
- Procedural Guidance: Familiarity with the consultation handbook and other guidance documents from the USFWS and NMFS
