The Difference You Will Make:
The Manager of Instructional Design is integral to the Global Operations Training team, leading a team of Instructional Designers supporting core training programs for Airbnb’s global Community Support, Trust, and AirCover teams. Success in this role will be measured by the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of the learning content produced by their team. Within the first 12 months, this person should become well-versed in the types of initiatives and training deliverables that this team supports, build strong relationships with cross-functional partners across Community Support, Trust, and AirCover, and take steps toward continuous improvement of instructional design processes for enduring and/or rapid content.
A Typical Day:
- Lead and coach a team of Instructional Designers focused on creating learning content for company and organizational initiatives with rapid timelines and/or maintaining enduring learning content
- Own and manage the end-to-end people strategy and performance management of the assigned Instructional Design team
- Manage intake and triage of content design and development requests
- Define and drive learning content standards and processes, and design and development strategy to create consistency and quality in learning experience across the CS, Trust, and AirCover teams
- Collaborate closely with fellow Global Operations Training team members, including our Translation and Localization Manager, Instructional Designer Manager, Learning Performance Manager(s), and other roles to deliver high-quality training content deliverables and outcomes
- Innovate on instructional design processes using data analysis and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and quality of learning content
Your Expertise:
- 5+ years experience with strategic design and development of learning content, including eLearning courses, instructor-led training, simulations, audio and video content
- 2+ years experience managing complex content design and development projects and working with contributors to resolve day-to-day challenges
- 2+ years experience managing teams in a distributed environment
- Outstanding interpersonal and cross-functional leadership skills with ability to influence across various leadership levels
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills with an emphasis on clarity and ability to adapt to different styles and tones
- Ability to prioritize and drive team to achieve multiple simultaneous deadlines while consistently delivering high quality results
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and discover novel solutions to problems encountered
- Strong business acumen, including strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
