The Manager of the Volunteer Program is a people leader who recognizes the value of volunteers in serving our unhoused neighbors, supporting our regular staffing, engaging churches and donors, and partnering with our community. Providing volunteers with an impactful experience and maintaining clear systems and processes across all sites are paramount. This person serves as a member of the Development and Community Engagement Team and reports to the Sr. VP of Development and Community Engagement. This position provides development, administration, planning, execution and management of all aspects of the Volunteer Program for both existing and pending facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the process for recruiting, qualifying, onboarding, communicating with and celebrating volunteers.
- Plan, organize and execute volunteer events and projects, working in conjunction with existing corporate, church and school partnerships.
- Manage the SDRM Volunteer Content Management System (VOMO) and maximize use of the tools and features it provides.
- Manage the administrative aspects of the Volunteer Program, including the tracking of key data points and execution of progress reports.
- Cultivate relationships across departments in order to maximize staff capacity and the quantity/quality of serving opportunities, as well as ensure smooth process conformance.
- Provide support and guidance for the Activities and Volunteer Coordinators at the North and South County Lighthouses.
Qualifications
Education:
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Canva and Mailchimp preferred. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to function effectively in a dynamic, faith-based environment
- Strong communication and administrative skills

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- This role may require walking, standing, lifting up to 25 lbs, and working irregular hours, including evenings or weekends.
- Environment includes residential program sites and client-facing spaces.
