Position Summary
The Manager, Professional Education & Content Development is responsible for leading the strategy, development, program management, and continuous evolution of BioTissue's Professional Education initiatives designed to educate healthcare professionals, enhance clinical knowledge, strengthen thought leadership, and support adoption of BioTissue therapies.
This role serves as the strategic lead for educational content and programming, responsible for identifying educational opportunities, developing learning objectives, creating educational curricula and content, and managing the design and execution of healthcare professional education programs. The position works closely with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), physician faculty, Medical Affairs, Marketing, KOL Director and Commercial Leadership to ensure educational initiatives are scientifically sound, commercially relevant, compliant, and impactful.
In addition to content leadership, the Manager is responsible for end-to-end program management of BioTissue's educational portfolio, including Local Speaker Programs, BioTissue Experience (BTX) programs, National Summits, Regional Summits, Advisory Boards, physician webinars, conference educational activities, and other peer-to-peer learning engagements.
Reporting to the Director of Professional Education, this role requires expertise in educational strategy, content development, program management, scientific communications, stakeholder engagement, and healthcare professional education.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Educational Strategy & Program Management
- Develop and execute BioTissue's Professional Education strategy to support physician engagement, clinical adoption, customer education, and commercial objectives.
- Lead program management for BioTissue's educational portfolio, including the development of annual educational plans, program objectives, learning outcomes, content strategies, and success metrics.
- Design and manage educational initiatives including Local Speaker Programs, BioTissue Experience (BTX) programs, Innovation Summits, Regional Summits, webinars, advisory boards, and conference education activities.
- Establish program goals, attendee learning objectives, faculty engagement strategies, and measurement plans to ensure educational effectiveness and business impact.
- Manage program timelines, content development milestones, stakeholder reviews, and cross-functional deliverables to ensure successful program implementation.
Content Development & Educational Design
- Lead the development, review, and maintenance of educational content, including:
- Speaker presentations
- Educational curricula
- Workshop materials
- Discussion guides
- Training programs
- Digital learning assets
- Educational resource libraries
- Partner with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Sales Leadership, and Commercial teams to identify content gaps and develop educational solutions addressing customer and business needs.
- Collaborate with KOLs and physician faculty to develop and refine educational materials, presentations, and learning experiences.
- Apply adult learning principles and educational best practices to increase learner engagement and knowledge retention.
- Develop content governance processes to ensure materials remain scientifically accurate, compliant, current, and aligned with brand messaging.
Speaker Bureau & KOL Engagement
- Partner with Professional Education Operations to develop and optimize BioTissue's physician faculty and speaker bureau strategy.
- Lead KOL engagement activities related to educational content creation, curriculum development, presentation refinement, and faculty training.
- Support faculty onboarding and development by creating training materials and presentation best practices.
Budget Management, Analytics & Reporting
- Manage Professional Education program budgets, expense tracking, forecasting, invoice processing, and financial reconciliation activities.
- Monitor program performance and operational metrics to evaluate effectiveness, efficiency, and return on investment.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPI tracking tools to enable data-driven decision-making.
- Analyze participation trends, program utilization, operational performance, and customer feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
- Prepare program performance updates and operational reports for leadership review.
Compliance & Cross Functional Collaboration
- Ensure all Professional Education programs are executed in compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, Finance, Medical Affairs, Sales, and Marketing to support program approvals and execution requirements.
- Collaborate with vendors, event partners, and external stakeholders to ensure successful program delivery.
- Support audits, documentation reviews, and compliance monitoring related to educational activities.
- Coordinate with the Manager, Professional Education & Content Development to ensure successful deployment and execution of educational content and learning experiences.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate educational effectiveness through participant feedback, field insights, learning assessments, and program metrics.
- Analyze educational outcomes and recommend improvements to content, program design, and participant experience.
- Leverage market intelligence, competitive insights, customer feedback, and product knowledge to continuously evolve educational strategy and programming.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Professional Education & Program Operations to ensure efficient delivery, execution, measurement, and optimization of all educational programs.
Position Expertise/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field required
- 5+ years of experience in Medical Device and Technology Sales required
- 1+ year of experience in Program Development and Maintenance preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 7–10 years of experience in Professional Education, Medical Education, or Healthcare Professional (HCP) Education within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industry.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing comprehensive healthcare professional education content, including speaker presentations, clinical education materials, curricula, workshops, discussion guides, training programs, and digital learning assets.
- Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and executing physician education programs, speaker bureaus, KOL engagement strategies, and HCP educational initiatives.
- Proven ability to independently lead complex content development projects from concept through implementation, including content strategy, message architecture, content review, stakeholder alignment, and deployment.
- Experience working within ophthalmology, ocular surface disease, regenerative medicine, or a related therapeutic area preferred.
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance requirements governing HCP engagements, speaker programs, and educational activities.
- Proven ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously while managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Outstanding written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and influence stakeholders across a matrixed organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate program performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Experience managing program budgets, forecasting expenses, and analyzing key performance metrics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and experience with CRM, project management, and event management platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Smartsheet, APEX, or similar systems).
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of exercising sound independent judgment while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accountability.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business needs.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%, with additional travel required during major educational programs, conferences, and National Sales Meetings.
