Job description

.

Manufacturing Data Architect

Høje-Taastrup, Denmark

Your impact begins here

Manufacturing data is at the heart of digital transformation, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence across Global Manufacturing & Supply (GMS). As a Manufacturing Data Architect, you will shape how manufacturing data is defined, structured, governed, and reused across a global organisation. Your work will provide the architectural foundation that enables trusted, contextualised, and interoperable data, supporting critical operational, analytical, and AI-driven decisions.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between manufacturing operations and enterprise digital capabilities. By defining standards, architectural guardrails, and reusable patterns, you will help create a more connected data landscape that supports scalable digital and AI ambitions across GMS.

What you'll bring

You are an experienced data architecture professional who enjoys solving complex challenges and influencing stakeholders across technical and business communities. You combine strategic thinking with the ability to translate business needs into practical architectural direction.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Automation, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in data architecture, information architecture or data engineering/analyst in a manufacturing/industrial IT/OT environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems and data flows, including areas such as MES, automation systems, OT, production lines, laboratory systems, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Experience defining how data should be structured, understood, trusted, and governed across multiple systems
  • Experience establishing and governing data contracts and schemas standards, including driving their adoption across different teams and systems to ensure interoperability.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across business and technical communities.

What you'll do

  • Define and evolve the GMS Data Target Architecture, including principles, standards, architectural guardrails, and data contract/schema standards that enable consistent and interoperable manufacturing data across GMS, leveraging standards such as ISA-88 and ISA-95 where applicable.
  • Develop an end-to-end view of manufacturing data flows from shop floor systems through enterprise platforms, analytics, and AI capabilities.
  • Create reusable data architecture patterns, data products standards, and interoperability standards that support scalable digital and AI solutions.
  • Drive simplification and standardisation by reducing duplication, improving reuse, and strengthening data governance across the manufacturing landscape.
  • Provide architecture reviews, guidance, and coaching to ensure solution designs align with target architectures, standards, and long-term business needs

Who you'll work with

You will join the Manufacturing Architecture organisation within Global Manufacturing & Supply. The team provides architecture leadership across a highly complex manufacturing environment and supports the development of scalable digital, data, and AI capabilities.

You will collaborate closely with Domain Architects, Lead Solution Architects, Solution Architects, product teams, business data owners, process experts, and architecture communities across GMS. You will also work with Enterprise IT and Enterprise AI teams to ensure manufacturing requirements are reflected in enterprise-wide capabilities and roadmaps.

What you can expect here

This is an opportunity to influence how manufacturing data is managed and utilised across a global organisation. You will play a key role in enabling future digital and AI solutions while helping create a more connected, standardised, and trusted manufacturing data landscape.

You can expect to work with experienced architecture professionals, collaborate across organisational boundaries, and contribute to strategic initiatives with broad business impact. The role offers significant opportunities for learning, professional growth, and the ability to shape the future direction of manufacturing data architecture.

We are a global healthcare company, founded in 1923 and headquartered just outside Copenhagen, Denmark. Our purpose is to drive change to defeat serious chronic diseases, built upon our heritage in diabetes. We do so by pioneering scientific breakthroughs, expanding access to our medicines, and working to prevent and ultimately cure the diseases we treat. Our story began over 100 years ago when two small Danish companies started producing the revolutionary new drug, insulin, which had just been discovered by Canadian scientists. These companies, Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium and Novo Terapeutisk Laboratorium, were established by individuals driven by a common goal: to make life-saving insulin available to people with diabetes in Denmark and beyond. August Krogh, a Nobel laureate, and his wife Marie, a physician whose own diabetes fueled their quest, played a pivotal role in bringing insulin production to Denmark, leading to the founding of Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium in 1923. Shortly after, in 1925, the Pedersen brothers, former Nordisk employees, established Novo Terapeutisk Laboratorium, creating a dynamic of competition and innovation that would characterize the Danish pharmaceutical landscape for decades. After years of parallel growth and groundbreaking research, these two entities merged in 1989 to form Novo Nordisk A/S, a company that has since expanded rapidly. Today, we are a world leader not only in diabetes care but also in obesity care, haemophilia care, and therapies for rare endocrine disorders. Our commitment extends beyond developing innovative medicines; we strive to make them accessible to patients worldwide. We employ more than 77,000 people across 80 offices globally and market our products in approximately 170 countries. The Novo Nordisk Way, our set of guiding principles, is rooted in the vision of our founders and continues to inspire our thousands of colleagues. We are dedicated to applying our passion, skills, and commitment to defeat serious chronic diseases that affect hundreds of millions of people and represent some of the most urgent global health challenges. Our U.S. headquarters is located in Plainsboro, New Jersey, playing a vital role in the life sciences industry through sales, marketing, and clinical trial management for all Novo Nordisk U.S. products. We are also significantly investing in manufacturing capabilities, including a $4.1 billion expansion in North Carolina, to meet the growing demand for our diabetes and obesity medications.
