Position Overview: This role involves performing maintenance, repairs, and enhancements on machinery used in food manufacturing processes. The primary focus is on maintaining and documenting electrical and control systems, addressing both hardware and software components to ensure efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for all electrical and control systems.
- Support Mechanics and Electro-Mechanics in diagnosing and repairing electrical or control-related issues.
- Provide training and coordinate the activities of Electro-Mechanics across all shifts as required.
- Occasionally work offsite to assist with equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
- Ensure production equipment is maintained according to the product production schedule.
- Conduct electrical and mechanical inspections safely while equipment is operational.
- Address corrective, preventive, or scheduled repairs during equipment downtime following company and machine vendor specifications.
- Work independently or alongside a mechanic to identify and resolve equipment failures, restoring production as quickly as possible.
- Complete assigned tasks in compliance with government regulations, GMP, safety standards, quality control measures, and company procedures.
- Perform preventive, scheduled, or corrective maintenance on batching and continuous process control systems, including networks, AC/DC and servo drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical components.
- Maintain secondary systems for steam, hot and chilled water, pneumatic air, electrical power, refrigeration, HVAC, and emissions control.
- Keep accurate work records in line with work orders, backlog, and job assignment systems.
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary, which may include travel for parts procurement, training, or additional responsibilities.
- Strive to enhance the quality, legality, and safety of products and manufacturing processes.
- Ensure the assigned work area is kept clean and organized, reporting any potential contamination or suspicious activities to a Supervisor immediately.
Qualifications:
- AS/AAS degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
- High school/military training and practical experience in a related field, with a background in full machine and electrical control system installation.
- Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, and Mitsubishi software, as well as preventive maintenance software, is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems design documentation.
- Working knowledge of control system projects, including machine layout, control drawings, P&ID, and basic troubleshooting for A/B-Rockwell, Siemens, and Mitsubishi.
- Ability to perform basic and advanced mathematical calculations, converting units of measurement.
- Competent in completing forms detailing maintenance work performed.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting work orders, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions.
