Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) to join our vessel operations team. The ETO will be responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the ship’s electrical and electronic systems, ensuring all equipment is fully operational at sea and during port operations. This role is critical to supporting safe navigation, communications, power distribution, and technical operations aboard the vessel.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain all electrical and electronic systems onboard, including power generation, distribution, propulsion control, navigation, and communication equipment.
- Support engineers in daily technical operations, ensuring vessel readiness and compliance with international maritime regulations.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to diagnose and resolve electrical or automation-related faults.
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for electrical and electronic systems to ensure maximum reliability.
- Assist during vessel reclassification, surveys, and testing by monitoring performance and providing technical reports.
- Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, records, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in safety drills, ensuring all electrical safety procedures and protocols are followed.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the vessel’s crew on electrical operations when required.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of marine electrical and automation systems, including high-voltage equipment and electronic navigation systems.
- Familiarity with IMO, SOLAS, and classification society standards.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills in high-pressure environments.
- Proficiency in technical reporting and documentation.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, officers, and ship management.
- Ability to work independently and ensure timely execution of assigned technical responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Valid STCW Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) CoC or equivalent certification.
- Previous sea-going experience as an ETO or comparable position on offshore support vessels (AHTS, DP2 preferred).
- Knowledge of vessel automation, dynamic positioning systems, and communication electronics is highly desirable.

Contract Details
- Contract Duration: 1 year, with possibility of renewal.
- Job Location: Initial assignment in Houma, Louisiana, transitioning to Port Harcourt, Nigeria as an expatriate for the remainder of the contract period.
- Rotation: Rotational schedule available.
- Compensation: Company will cover all per diem expenses in addition to agreed salary and benefits.

Pay: $46,086.09 - $75,501.52 per year
