Job Summary

Provide basic mechanical engineering services in support of either the operation and maintenance of campus facilities mechanical systems and utilities or systems and equipment associated with research efforts within an academic or research unit or laboratory. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: facilities management and utilities personnel or research management and faculty; co-workers, vendors, suppliers and contractors. This position typically will advise and counsel: NA. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Participate in the design, installation and testing of mechanical systems and components.

Job Duty 2 -
Conduct analyses of mechanical system performance; recommend corrective action where required.

Job Duty 3 -
Develop plans and specifications for basic mechanical systems and components.

Job Duty 4 -
Troubleshoot mechanical systems; may involve calibration and repair work.

Job Duty 5 -
Prepare drawings, schematic diagrams and other documentation associated with mechanical components and systems.

Job Duty 6 -
Interact with vendors regarding procurement and delivery issues

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
0-2 years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Fundamental Exam (FE), Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires basic application of mechanical engineering principles, processes and practices; application of regulations, codes and safety practices associated with mechanical systems; utilization of basic computer applications including those specific to areas of responsibility; communications.
