Shift: Days (Primarily 8a-5p)
- Required to rotate a late-night Monday or Tuesday each week, hours will be scheduled between 8a-8p.
- May be required to rotate a half-day Saturday 1-2 times per month between September and May.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of providers and the Manager, HR & Operations, Triage Coordinator, and Providers, the Triage Medical Assistant uses critical thinking and clinical knowledge to provide compassionate patient-centered pediatric care, phone triage, and care coordination.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports to work on time, as scheduled.
- Contacts patients/caregivers regarding care follow-up, treatment plans and test results
- Triages incoming phone calls and/or patient concerns
- Assists with care coordination
- Troubleshoots and revises clinical processes in collaboration with other clinical team members
- Follows Barton Schmitt triage protocols
- Assesses symptoms, severity and appropriately triage to home self-care, office or emergency care.
- Educates patients and parents about diagnosis, treatment and reasons for concern
- Educates patients on COVID-19 testing timelines, quarantine and
- Coordinates patient's needs and identify resources.
- Provides emotional support to patients and parents.
- Completes paperwork and documentation necessary for rendered care
- Manages prescription refills adhering to office principles
- Assists clinical and front staff.
- Maintains knowledge with lab processes.
- Completes patient forms and write letters
Medical Records and EMR Preparation:
Identifies and reviews immunization records in MCIR and EPIC.
- Locates and merges old records from filing (or parent) for new patients
- Locates, merges, and/or reviews specialist medical records for existing and new patients
- If new patient with no immunization records, obtains releases from parent to request records, contact previous health care center to obtain immunization records via fax
- Empties provider "out" baskets periodically throughout the day
- May assist with scheduling same day sick call and some well visits as needed during the day

Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to consistently provide care appropriate for the age of the patient and the significance of their concern.

Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous medical assistant and triage experience in an outpatient clinic
Preferred Education and Experience
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), preferred
- BLS certification preferred
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Previous Triage experience
